Halloween is one of the times when the Metroid community is at its most creative, from spooky drawings, to Metroid pumpkin carvings and Samus costumes. This year, Hollywood actress Brie Larson got in on the fun, dressing up as Zero Suit Samus for a party. Her costume is spot on, down to the blond hairstyle with Samus’s two loose locks of hair on both sides of her face. Brie shared photos of the costume on Instagram, in her story and on her profile. Her costume is perfectly timed, since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, in which Zero Suit Samus is once again playable is nearly a month away from release, and its last Nintendo Direct aired a day after Halloween. You can see Brie’s images below.

Maybe she can play the role of Samus in a Metroid movie directed by Jordon Vogt-Roberts?

The final Nintendo Direct for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate unveiled the new Spirits adventure mode, where all characters except Kirby have been turned into trophies, or Spirits, and you have to rescue them. Additionally, non-playable fighters were turned into Spirits. In multiplayer battles, Spirit characters can be assigned to a fighter, and fight alongside them. There are Metroid Spirit characters, including a Zebesian, Metroid, and Adam Malkovich. None of those characters were shown in gameplay during the Direct, but appeared in brief glimpses. The game is only a month away from release, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any new Metroid content that is shared!

UPDATE: Our friends at Wikitroid have confirmed three more Metroid-related Spirits: the Ridley Robot from the end of Metroid: Zero Mission, a blue Mech from Metroid Prime: Federation Force, and Samus in her military uniform from Metroid: Other M. You can see Rosalina & Luma equipped with the latter in the Direct at around 12:35. The Ridley Robot and Mech Spirits are confirmed on smashbros.com.

There’s been one Metroid-related announcement in today’s Nintendo Direct – the original Metroid game will be one of the titles available to play through Nintendo Switch Online, which launches Sept. 18 (next Tuesday). There’s no word so far on whether it will be one of the games with new online co-op functionality, but we’ll keep you posted! We’ll also let you know about any more Metroid announcements, if there are any, in the Direct.
