Space Pirates have attacked the Galactic Federation and stolen samples of a dangerous life form: Metroids! Deep below ground on planet Zebes, the Space Pirates are trying to weaponize the organism under the leadership of super AI Mother Brain. Samus Aran, a fearless bounty hunter, is sent to infiltrate the Space Pirate base on Zebes and eliminate the threat.

The Metroid hatchling Samus brought back from SR388 is stolen by Ridley and brought to the rebuilt Space Pirate hideout on Zebes. Samus chases after him to take down the Space Pirates for good and discovers even more dangers deep below the surface.

Samus gets infected by a newly-discovered deadly parasite on a routine survey on SR388 and is saved by a vaccine produced from the last Metroid she retrieved on her first visit there. The new parasite, simply called “X,” breaks loose on a research station and Samus has to wipe it out before it reaches civilization.

Samus is tasked with finding a missing squad of Federation troopers. She discovers the planet they have gone missing on has been split into two opposing versions of itself in the form of Dark Aether and Light Aether. One of Light Aether’s natives asks her to restore balance to the planet to prevent it from ultimate destruction, but soon, Samus also encounters a dark doppelganger of herself.

The Galactic Federation summons several bounty hunters to destroy a computer virus that infected their Aurora Unit network. A vicious Space Pirate attack, led by Dark Samus, scatters the hunters and leaves only Samus to be saved by the Federation. After a quick recovery, she ventures out to find the missing hunters and take out Dark Samus and the Space Pirate forces.

METROID PRIME 4: BEYOND was originally announced by Nintendo during their Spotlight presentation at E3 2017. In January 2019, Nintendo released a development update to confirm that the title was going to be restarted, and developed by Retro Studios. It was finally unveiled during the Nintendo Direct on June 18, 2024, and will be released on Nintendo Switch in 2025. Sylux returns in Metroid Prime 4 as the antagonist and new leader of the Space Pirates, with Metroids in tow. More information will be shared in the future!
