Director Jordon Vogt-Roberts Wants To Make a Metroid Movie

Film director Jordon Vogt-Roberts, who directed Kong: Skull Island and The Kings of Summer, divulged his ideas for a Metroid movie in an interview with IGN.

“I have a pitch for a Metroid movie. They’ll never let me. It’s too crazy. It legitimately would be her (Samus) alone. It would be a little bit of her talking to herself. As soon as they introduce other talking characters in those games, to me it loses everything. You put her alone and it’s almost got more to do with the silence of a movie like Drive. Like the quietness. and having it be like a real, intense mood piece, but mixed with sci-fi.”

He also discusses how Super Metroid had an impact on him as a child and helped inspire himself and many other filmmakers who grew up playing video games. Metroid already has plenty in common with the Alien movie series, drawing many inspirations from them. It’s not too unlikely to imagine what a Metroid movie could be with them in mind.

Jordon Vogt-Roberts has recently handed in a script for a Metal Gear Solid movie. It is not yet certain if the film will be made yet and has been in limbo for many years already.

You can watch the interview in its entirety below. Vogt-Roberts starts discussing Metroid at the 10:54 mark.

Reggie states Metroid Prime 4’s absence from E3 was to not tease fans

Reggie Fils-Aimé spoke with Polygon regarding why Nintendo had decided to skip on Metroid Prime 4 at this years E3 presentation.

“We believe it is not fair to the fan to repeatedly tease them (fans) over time about a game. That’s why we tend to focus close in, typically in a six- to nine-month timeframe, and go deep in sharing content and information on a particular piece of content. But right now, for something that’s not launching in 2018, it just wasn’t the right time.”

Fans will likely have to wait until E3 2019 for any new information, unless Nintendo decides to showcase it in a future Direct. Either way, it’s evident that we are all a long way from seeing the game in any capacity.
