Nintendo made an announcement this morning that the latest in-game event tournament for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate which will focus on franchises celebrating their 35th anniversary this year. But Metroid fans have rejoiced in official acknowledgement of Metroid’s 35th anniversary, something the team here at Shinesparkers have been keen to see happen. Alongside Metroid, this year will also mark thirty-five years of the Kid Icarus, Dragon Quest, Castlevania and The Legend of Zelda franchises, which will also be represented in the event, running for three days from May 28th 2021.
While acknowledgement of the Metroid series reaching an impressive milestone is highly welcomed, we are hopeful that Nintendo will be offering more surprises as the year goes on, especially during this years’ E3 event taking place next month, where Nintendo have confirmed their attendance.
