Metroid Prime 4 Skips E3 2018

Nintendo has confirmed that Metroid Prime 4 will not be shown at this years Electronic Entertainment Expo. Speaking with Game Informer, senior product marketing manager for Nintendo America Bill Trinen and localization manager Nate Bihldorff confirmed that the game was still in development and that it will not be featured at this year.

Last year was the first year for Switch at E3, so we took a bit of a departure from our usual approach to E3, which is to focus on more near-term stuff. Last year, because it was the first year for the hardware, we looked at things that were maybe a little further out. This year, you can see pretty clearly, we’re back to focusing on the near-term. We’ll have more to share with Metroid Prime 4 when we have something we think is going to wow people.

Interview: Clark Wen (Audio Lead, Metroid Prime 1/2)

We are delighted to publish a brand new interview on Shinesparkers with Clark Wen, former Audio Lead on Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes at Retro Studios. The interview also touches on the early days of Metroid Prime before a composer was in place, the subject of voice acting in Metroid Prime and what it was like to work for Retro Studios. We want to take the opportunity to thank Clark for taking the time to speak with us, and we wish him the very best of luck in all of his endeavors.

You may recall that Super Metroid was not run at Awesome Games Done Quick earlier this year, due to issues that have plagued recent runs of the game. If you were disappointed in that decision, we have good news for you today. It will return for Summer Games Done Quick in 2018! However, it is no longer the main event, and will be run on Tuesday, June 26th at 8:09pm PST, after runs of Metroid: Zero Mission and Metroid: Samus Returns. Runner oatsngoats, who competed in last year’s SGDQ and died 11:34 into his run, will return for a chance at redemption. SGDQ will be raising money for Doctors Without Borders, a very worthy cause, this year. Be sure to tune in and show your support!
