Hirokazu “chip” Tanaka, the composer of the original Metroid, which first released on the Famicom Disk System in 1986, has shared a special message for fans to celebrate the series marking its 35th year. Shinesparkers reached out to ask Mr. Tanaka if he had a message he would like to share to Metroid fans all around the world, and he provided us with a response, which we are happy to be sharing with you today!
I’m surprised that there’s so many fans who love Metroid even after 35 years, and that makes me genuinely happy. I believe that it’s because of that fan support that I am still composing on this day. I’m very grateful – Hirokazu “chip” Tanaka
On behalf of Shinesparkers and the Metroid community, we want to thank Mr. Tanaka for sharing his thoughtful message, and for all his contributions to video games, including Metroid. His compositions continue to be an inspiration for many of us.
