Metroid Prime 4: Beyond was announced all the way back in June 2017, and we only saw our first glimpse of it seven years later in June 2024. Still, Amazon and other online retailers made it possible to preorder the game after its announcement, despite having no knowledge of when it would come out. Now, some players who preordered it on Amazon seven years ago are reporting their orders have been cancelled.

Whether this is a mistake or a deliberate decision is as yet unknown. Amazon sent the following email to people whose orders were affected:

Hello, due to a lack of availability, we will not be able to obtain the following item from your order. We’ve canceled the item and apologize for the inconvenience. If you see a charge for the canceled item, we will refund you within 1-2 business days. If you are still interested in purchasing this item, it may be available from other sellers. Please visit the detail page for this item.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is set to drop at some point in 2025. We will keep you up to date on any and all developments, however small, as we get closer to its release! Let us know on our social media pages if you’ve been affected by a preorder cancellation.
