During today’s Nintendo Direct, Dark Samus was confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a playable fighter! She will be an Echo Fighter, or clone of Samus, with a few key differences. We suspected she could be after she was missing from the Assist Trophy showcase at E3. This marks an unprecedented total of four Metroid characters in Super Smash Bros.!

In related news, Brinstar Depths has been confirmed to return as a stage for the first time since Super Smash Bros. Melee, and more Metroid music will be included. All returning Metroid songs can now be played on any related stage (Brinstar, Brinstar Depths, Norfair, Frigate Orpheon) as well. More information as it develops.

On top of this, Nintendo of Europe’s Twitter says that Dark Samus will be getting an amiibo! When it will come isn’t known as of yet, but we’re very excited! Check out her gorgeous render and character showcase video below.
